The Game

1942 A.D. - World War 2, thus far, is one of the most devastating wars in history. Financially, emotionally, and physically there is not a person on earth who has not been changed or touched in some way by the horrible events that have unfolded. Battle lines are drawn and altered by espionage, theft and more overt means leading to the death of millions of soldiers and innocents alike. Several scholars believe that this is much more than a war of men, this is a battle for the very soul of mankind.

It is a well-known fact that the Nazi Party of Germany has a fascination for the occult and mythological artifacts that are believed to hold boundless power. To those that have the means and the will to pursue and find these items, ultimate power is within their reach. How will the war end if Himmler actually acquires the Spear of Longinus? Even if there are no magical properties associated to it, can you imagine the power over the morale of those who hold these items dear? Even thinking that if a mythological item like Mjolnir, the Hammer of Thor, is real, what power could it bestow upon the owner? Is Germany working with strange technology from other worlds? What of the rumored super soldier programs? Do the Allies have similar goals and secrets? It is these items that we base the premise of this game.

The general public of every country, as well as the rank and file troops in every standing army cannot grasp the concept that these items are, in fact, real. Shrouded from their vision by several organizations ranging from governments to churches and private organizations, it has been determined that these facts must be kept from society or chaos would erupt. A sheep who is happy in the pasture will not run when the gate is opened.

The truth of the matter is many of the religious and mythological stories are not fiction in one fashion or another. Relics and artifacts do exist and can give power to those who know how to access it. Aliens are a part of this world and are on the side of the Axis powers** Black Forest 1936**. (Up until the fall of Berlin when they will make an ill-fated escape attempt from the advancing Allies resulting in damage to one of their ships and a forced landing in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.)

Super soldier programs on both sides are both theorized and put into practice. The Nazi program is, by far, the most prolific and made real by the scientific efforts of Luthor von Frankenstein, great-great-grandson of Viktor, the notorious scientist of legend. Young Luthor has taken the research of his predecessors to the next level and has had some modicum of success where his relatives had failed. Hitler and Himmler use their vast resources and access to alien technology to give this genius access to everything he may need.

So to sum things up, the world is at war, the general public knows this but does not know about the true implications of what both sides are doing. Germany’s current state of technology and military strength is far above anything the Allies realize... at this point.

This is where the players come in. Gathered from the brightest the Allies have, special units labelled Operation Okkulten that are being put together to prevent the Axis acquisition of relics, artifacts, and supplies for the super soldier program. In this game it is possible to be an OSS operative from the United States, SAS elite from Britain, Spetsnaz from Russia, or a specialist from the French Resistance and many more diverse characters all funded by the OSS. These multi-national squads are all that stand between the safety and freedom of the world and complete domination by the Axis. So gather your Nerve, Faith and Spirit and move forward for God and Country!!

Okkulten will utilize the Chaosium BRP (Basic Roleplaying) system and Reaper Miniatures.  Tactical operations will be undertaken by players using the familiar 5' grid many have become accustomed to.

Static. That’s all Corporal John Hitch was getting through the handset of the SCR-300 strapped to his back. “Anything yet?” whispered the lieutenant. “No sir, not a peep. We should have heard something by now.” Their mission was a simple one, relay messages back to base camp from the recon group out at the Nazi dig site. Getting an exact position was vital so as not to damage any of the artifacts.

Then, through the soft crackle of static, Hitch picked up something faint, almost panicked “níłchʼi  … ipa … atsiniltłʼish … naabaahii ... anaʼí”, In the background there was definitely weapon fire.

Hitch immediately turned to the lieutenant. “Sir, I have something! It’s faint and broken up, doesn’t make sense.” From the look on Hitch’s face the officer wasn’t sure what to think. “Corporal, what are they saying, did they find the site? Do we have coordinates?”

“No sir. What they sent weren’t coordinates, it was almost jibbersh.” This worried Hitch. His contact at the other end, Corporal Patch, was a long-time friend who grew up on the same reservation with him. Nothing scared Patch, nothing. Yet in his faint voice at the other line it almost sounded like he was insane.

“Last time Corporal, what did they say.”

“Sir... only four words came across. Lots of gunfire in the background, but he said something about enemy spirit warriors and electricity. It was faint and broken up, doesn’t make any sense.”

“We need to go.” The lieutenant replied. It was obvious there was something more to this than he was letting on. “Report back to base camp, let’s clear out!”
